Today Izzy and I worked on opposites again. He has actually gotten very good at knowing opposites, but we still need to work on understanding opposites. For example, this morning as I was getting him ready for the day, I could say a word like ‘dirty’ and he would respond with ‘clean’. Or I could say ‘day’ and he would say ‘night’. But I’m not sure he really understands what those words mean. I’m still quite proud of him though. Today we did an activity to help him understand the opposites of float and sink. I simply gathered a dozen or so objects from around the house, filled up the sink with water, and had him test each of the objects and tell if the could sink or float. We then sorted them based on the results of the experiment. When we had tested each of the objects and sorted them out, I let him have fun just playing with the objects and the water which he loved!
Sydney got to do a fun fine motor activity by putting paint samples into a pringles can. The paint samples were so pretty and provided a great opportunity to discuss colors and she put them in and took them out of the pringles can. Super simple but super fun!
